Seaside railroad learning garden
In response to growing community interest, Master Gardeners expanded their efforts into the South County in 2024. Master Gardeners unveiled the Seaside Railroad Learning Garden, a demonstration portion of the larger, newly improved Seaside Railroad Community Garden operated by the Sunset Empire Park + Recreation District. This learning garden emphasizes plants that thrive in coastal conditions and small spaces, including vegetables, herbs, and native, pollinator-friendly plants. Innovative gardening techniques like vertical gardening, cold frames, and cover cropping are featured. All produce grown is donated to the South County Community Food Bank. |
