Join OSU Extension - Clatsop County in this four-part series to take a deep dive into composting options for different scales. Join us for just one session or up to all four! Sessions will be taught by a combination of OSU Extension Faculty, Master Gardener volunteers, and farmers.

Session 2: Saturday, 9/20 from 1 to 3 pm. Composting for Apartments taught by Shannon Rauter (OSU Extension) and Chuck Meyer (Master Gardener volunteer). Participants will learn about the smallest scale composting options and will construct a small plastic worm bin to take home. Materials, including worms, provided. Location: 

$5 per class or $15 for all four classes

Next Sessions: 

• Session 3: Saturday, 9/27 from 1 to 3 pm. Composting for Gardens taught by Shannon Rauter (OSU Extension), Missy Bright (Master Gardener volunteer), and Len Sherp (Master Gardener volunteer). Participants will learn about composting systems for managing garden waste, such as larger worm bins and three bin systems. Participants will assist Master Gardener volunteers in a hands-on activity to construct a wooden worm bin for use in the garden. Location: Alderbrook Learning Garden, 668 45th St., Astoria, OR.
• Session 4: Saturday, 10/11 from 1 to 3 pm. Composting for Farms taught by Larry Nelson (LaNa's Conscious Farm) and Shannon Rauter (OSU Extension). Participants will tour Larry's farm to see what a larger scale compost system that incorporates animal waste looks like. Location: LaNa's Conscious Farm, 90558 Logan Rd, Astoria, OR.
