Have a Gardening Question? As a trained OSU Master Gardener volunteer!

OSU Master Gardener program staff and up to three trained Master Gardener volunteers will be onsite at the Clatsop County Extension Office for all of your gardening questions. You can visit the office, call, or email for assistance identifying your weed, disease, and insect problems, as well as research-based management suggestions for these issues. Feel free to bring in plant or insect samples to assist with identification and diagnosis, or soil samples for free pH testing.

For in-person assistance, visit the Clatsop County Extension Office at 2001 Marine Dr. Room 210, Astoria, OR 97103. Plant, insect, and soil specimens dropped off during other business hours will be handled by Master Gardener Volunteers during Plant Clinic hours. All soil pH testing will be conducted on Thursdays.

Call the office at 503-325-8573 during Plant Clinic hours to speak with a Master Gardener volunteer. If calling outside Plant Clinic hours, please leave a voicemail and a Master Gardener volunteer will contact you back during Plant Clinic hours.

You can also find Master Gardeners in person answering plant questions every Wednesday at the Seaside Farmers Market from 1-6 pm and every other Sunday at the Astoria Sunday Market from 10 am to 3 pm.

Spring Plant Sale & Education Event (May 09, 2026)

Join us on Saturday, May 9 as our popular annual event returns to the Clatsop Co. Fair & Expo Center! Our Spring Plant Sale and Education Event is FREE TO ATTEND for all community members, and we’ll have a wide range of edible and ornamental plants available for purchase. Learn more about our planned programming below and we hope to see you there.

Plant Sale: Get ready to plant in your gardens! We’ll be selling a variety of vegetable starts, herbs and perennials. Cash, personal checks and credit cards will be accepted for in-person purchases. You can see most available items, as well as shop early, through our online plant sale. Our online plant sale will be open from April 1 to May 5 for expedited pick-up at the fairgrounds on event day.

Free Soil pH Tests: Our volunteers will once again be offering complimentary soil pH testing. For soil pH tests, you’ll need to bring 1 - 2 cups of soil from the area you’d like to test. Family-Friendly Educational Activities: In addition to the plant sale, we’ll have FREE educational activities for the whole family. Seek home gardening advice from our Master Gardener volunteers, participate in hands-on activities for kids, and visit table clinics to learn about bees, hummingbirds, seed collecting and more. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to learn about our activities and experts as we’ll be sharing spotlights throughout April.

Raffle: We’ll be hosting a fundraising raffle, with all collected funds supporting our county-wide Master Gardener programs. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase at the prize station. Be sure to grab an event passport upon entry– check off your station visits to receive free bonus raffle tickets!

Shop Native Plants with the Clatsop Soil & Water Conservation District: Our friends at Clatsop Soil & Water Conservation District will also be hosting their native plant sale at the Fairgrounds on the same day. You can find them across the foot bridge! CSWCD will also be hosting a riparian restoration talk at 10:00 a.m. in the 4-H Clubhouse on the event day. Yeon House Plant Walk (May 20, 2026)

Join CCMGA, OSU Extension, and the National Park Service for a second guided hike to the historic Yeon House property and back (approximately one mile on uneven terrain) to see the rhododendrons in bloom. Along the way, we’ll explore native plants, discuss invasive species removal efforts, and highlight our rhododendron species cataloging project. If you joined our walk last August, this walk will have a larger focus on rhododendron species and care than our previous walk that focused more heavily on native plants. We've scheduled this walk based on anticipated peak rhododendron bloom timing, so it should be especially beautiful!

If you plan to join us, please RSVP by clicking the blue button the left so we can provide you with more detailed directions and notify you in the event of a weather-related rescheduling or cancellation.

Meet at the Sunset Beach Trailhead Parking Lot, 33101 Sunset Beach Rd, Warrenton.

Note: Participants should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain.
